Who. FRILAND is a private land conservation organization.

What. We fund care of quiet land through low impact Steward stays and grow destinations only when the land is ready.

Why. Conservation has to prove itself as a viable economic alternative to development, destination by destination.

FRILAND makes room for wild places to remain wild, and for people to experience them with care. We welcome Stewards, not crowds. Bring your own shelter. Travel lightly. Respect the land, wildlife, dark skies, and the silence. Leave No Trace of your Stay. We are NOT a campground, we are a private land conservation destination.

Mission

Prove conservation works

Conservation has to prove itself as a viable economic alternative to development, destination by destination. Our goal is one million acres by 2036. That is ambition, not a claim of acres already held. We challenge the status quo on land conservation. This model proves private land conservation can work economically.

How we work

Our mission is simple. Keep land quiet. Keep access honest. Fund care through low impact stays. Grow destinations only when the land is ready.

A limited number of stays helps protect and care for each place.

The first is Longhorn Safari: roughly 80 acres near Terlingua and Big Bend. Dark skies. Wildlife. Room to breathe.
